One person was injured when the double barrel gun carried by the security officer went off accidentally at the treasure chest of Axis Bank branch in Koramangala on Wednesday.

The incident occurred when the bank's staff members were loading cash into a vehicle outside the branch premises in 7th Block, Koramangala.

When the loaded gun carried by the security guard went off accidentally, the splinter of the shell hit the unsuspecting driver of the vehicle.

The injured driver H K Mishra was rushed to a nearby hospital, while the Koramangala police detained the security guard.

This incident comes close on the heels of similar incident two days ago when a 35 year customer of State Bank of India was injured when the guard's double barrel gun went off accidentally on West of Chord Road on Monday.

Police blamed the security agencies for the lapse in not providing proper training for its staff members to handle weapon.

The safety latch of the weapon should always be locked while carrying the weapon, lest it poses a danger to others, said a police officer.
