Bangalore could soon have an exclusive laboratory to test blood samples of suspected dengue patients.
The Chief Health Officer of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has been directed to set up the proposed laboratory at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh soon. The direction came from BBMP Commissioner Siddaiah while he was reviewing steps taken to check the spread of dengue, a vector-borne disease, here on Tuesday.
The review meeting was held in the light of dengue cases being detected across the State, a BBMP communiqué said and added that directions have been issued to health officials to identify mosquito breeding spots and take up fogging and other preventive measures.
Earlier, Mr. Siddaiah inspected the road inside Jnana Bharathi campus laid at a cost of Rs. 11.25 crore. He said that 11 road humps would be put in place. This decision was taken after Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande brought the issue to the notice of the Commissioner.
