While private schools have declared a holiday, headmasters of government schools have been given powers to close schools depending on the situation. Colleges are likely to function. MBA examination of BU and the first semester exam of D.Ed. have been rescheduled.
A section of auto drivers are likely to stay off the roads. Though BMTC will start its services in the morning, a decision to continue will be based on the situation. The officers and employees association of BBMP, while extending support, asked members to remain absent from work. State Government Employees Association has extended moral support.
Theatres, banks and industry bodies have maintained that they will function on Thursday.
Home Minister K.J. George appealed to the organisers to maintain peace. At least three incidents of sexual assault, including rape of a 7-year-old child, were reported on Wednesday.
