Bandh: BU counselling may be hit; RGUHS exams as scheduled

The Bharat Bandh call given by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Youth Against Corruption (YAC) on Tuesday is expected to affect counselling for admissions to post-graduate courses in Bangalore University.

However, the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) examination will go on as scheduled.

The bandh has been announced to “condemn the series of scams” under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre.

The second day of counselling for admissions to post-graduate commerce courses scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed to September 13 on account of the bandh.

A press release said that in view of Bharat Bandh, counselling for commerce scheduled for September 4 has been postponed to September13. Counselling will be held in the Academic Staff College, Central College Campus, Bangalore University.

Originally, counselling had been scheduled till September 7.

However, Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhu Dev said that only counselling has been postponed, but classes will go on. “The university will function. We have not sent any communication to affiliated colleges” on suspending classes for the day, he added.

RGUHS exams

RGUHS, which had postponed exams of B.Sc Nursing, B.Pharmacy, Pharma.D, BPT and all para-medical courses due to the exodus of north-eastern students, has decided to go ahead with the exams that start on Tuesday. They were supposed to begin on August 23.

The Department of Pre University Education and the Visvesvaraya Technological University too have not sent any communication to colleges to suspend classes.
