The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted bail to a 23-year-old physical trainer in connection with a complaint that he had ‘sexually harassed’ some girl students when he was working at a school on Kanakapura Road.

The order was passed by Justice Budihal R.B.

The police had arrested the teacher on August 5 after registering a case under Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The case was registered on August 4 following a letter from the Child Welfare Committee.

However, denying the allegations, the petitioner said that he had cautioned some girl students for not heeding his instructions following which parents had complained against him, and later he was asked to go on leave by the school management on July 24. Subsequently, he resigned stating that “it was humiliating for him to continue.”

Initially, it was alleged that was his “staring at girl students was uncomfortable”. Later, a report from the Block Education Officer said that his conduct was much serious than an “uncomfortable stare.”
