With Baahubali 2- The Conclusion set to hit over 500 screens across the State on Friday, the question of the cost of tickets is still uncertain.

While those booking online now will have to shell out between ₹120 and ₹550, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) claims that the government order on capping film ticket price at ₹200 will come into effect by Thursday.

Speaking to reporters Sa. Ra. Govindu, president of KFCC, said that viewers “should pay no more than ₹200” for tickets.

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has cleared the file on capping the ticket prices at ₹200 and we expect the notification in this regard to be out by Thursday evening,” claimed Mr. Govindu. The cap will apply to both single screens and multiplexes, he added.

The film is being released in three theatres on Kempe Gowda Road, the major hub of Kannada cinema.

230 single screens

N.R. Sudheer of Vasupradha Enterprises, which is releasing film, told The Hindu that the film will hit over 230 single screens across the State and the number of multiplex screens will be known by Thursday.

The screening will commence at 4 a.m. on Friday and tickets for all the shows on the first day have already been sold out.

Those who have already bought tickets have paid up to ₹550 per ticket.

Mr. Govindu, along with representatives from the film industry, has already met the tax authorities to restrain the exhibitors from overcharging.

Leading exhibitor and the former president of the KFCC K.V. Chandrashekar said that there might not be another option for the exhibitor but to repay the excess money collected over and above the fixed ticket price if the order comes in time.

S.V. Rajendra Singh Babu, chairman, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, asked why people in Karnataka have to pay more when their counterparts in Andhra Pradesh were watching the film for a maximum of ₹200.
