Members of the Karnataka State Government Primary School Ayah Sangha have urged the State government to recognise them as Group D employees as well as increase their salaries. M. Mahesh Kumar, State Secretary of the Sangha said that the government had increased their salaries to Rs. 5,000 last November. “However, most of the ayahs whose work is heavily dependent on physical labour are not able to make ends meet. The State needs to be considerate to our demands and increase our salaries and provide us job security.”
