Auto driver ‘kills’ wife, surrenders

July 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

A 27-year-old autorickshaw driver, after allegedly murdering his wife, walked into Kamakshipalya police station with a blood-soaked cloth late on Thursday night and confessed to the crime.

The accused, Puneet Kumar, a resident of Sunkadakatte, married Pallavi (24) four years ago. The couple have a three-year-old son.

Their relationship soured in the last couple of months, and they had approached the family court for a divorce. However, on Thursday, after attending a counselling session, the couple agreed to withdraw the divorce petition. Pallavi, who had been living with her parents, returned home. “They got into an argument, and Puneeth attacked her with a chopper,” said an officer.
