Following the attack on the father of the 14-year-old rape victim on Sunday, where he was stabbed by three men, the police have suspended the constable who was absent at the time of the attack.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) H.S. Revanna said that gunman Somshekhar had been suspended and two guards posted at the victim’s home for protection.
Though a hospital spokesperson claimed the victim had been discharged, the police said that he continues to be under treatment at the hospital, where extra security has been provided.
A senior police official said the constable on duty had told the police that he had gone to a dispensary at the time of the attack, but the police are investigating his curious disappearance.
