WINNING IDEA: Sanjay R., a winner of ‘Dikhao apna magic’ craft contest, with the judge, Rob.

The creativity and imagination of participants was on display at the grand finale of ‘Dikhao apna magic’ craft contest hosted by 3M India Ltd. at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium here.

Rob, the host of a popular television show for children, held two workshops on Saturday and displayed how a work of art can be made with simple materials. He also chose the contest winners and gave away prizes.

Prizes

In the sub-junior category, Aradhya K., a student of Delhi Public School (Bangalore East), won the first prize. Aijeeth Sharma from Freedom International School was the winner in the junior category, while Sanjay R., a class 8 student of Florence Public School, R.T. Nagar won first place in the senior category.

“I am extremely happy,” said Sanjay, who made a peacock. “I thought of doing something related to our nation and our national bird popped up in my imagination. The picture has my footprints, fingerprints, shining papers, and kundan work,” he said.

Open mind

Robert Harun aka Rob, who hosts the television show M.A.D., said: “Children are honest… If they don’t like something, they say it to your face. Through simple ideas, I make them explore and experiment with things that are around. We grownups try to restrict their thinking, which I think is wrong. We must allow children to have an open mind.”

Students were given a week to create and submit their art work.
