The Basavangudi police on Thursday arrested Karnataka Taekwondo Association president T. Praveen Kumar for allegedly issuing false certificates proclaiming that the recipients had participated in the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championship held in Chennai last year. The police said that Praveen Kumar, along with Taekwondo Association of Goa president D. Mangeshwar, had issued a false certificate to Mr. Kumar’s son-in-law Singara Mattoo, who used it to get a job in the Punjab police.
“It is not yet known for which post Singara Mattoo had applied,” the police said.
The police seized 210 such certificates from Mr. Kumar. The police are trying to track down other recipients of such false certificates.
The arrest followed a complaint by Karnataka Taekwondo Association office-bearer P. Munegowda.
