CRIME NOTES It will take three to four days to ascertain the motive for the murders
A couple from Odisha was bludgeoned to death under mysterious circumstances in Hebbugodi police station limits in Anekal taluk on Tuesday night.
The police said the assailants, armed with boulders, had battered the heads of Jamal (40), a rag picker, and his wife Nazeema (35), a domestic help. While Jamal’s body was found in their rented house in Sampigenagar, Nazeema’s body was found lying on the road some 150 metres away.
Before the murderous attack, the killers had latched the doors of the neighbouring houses from the outside.
The police are questioning some rag pickers of Odisha origin who live in Hebbugodi and surrounding areas about the victims’ antecedents. The couple had moved to Sampigenagar house two months ago.
Their families in Odisha have been informed about the murders and they are expected to arrive here on Thursday.
It will take three to four days to ascertain the motive for the murders, the Hebbugodi police said.
ATM theft attempt
Burglars attempted to loot cash from Punjab National Bank’s ATM at Yeshwanthpur railway station on Tuesday night.
The police said the thieves had smashed the teller machine with a boulder.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning. The Railway police have registered a case.
Hit-and-run
An unidentified man aged around 30 was killed in a hit-and-run incident on Mysore Road on uesday night.
The Byatarayanapura traffic police said a motorcycle knocked down the pedestrian as he crossed the Mysore Road at Kengeri around 8.30 p.m.
