Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda on Friday said that he would not mind facing any action to safeguard the interests of the people.
Reacting to Swami Nithyananda's petition during the inauguration of a new floor at Kanteerava Studio here, Mr. Sadananda Gowda said that he was not afraid of any kind of action, including that of going to prison, to protect the interests of the people.
“I will discharge my duty as the Chief Minister, regardless of the cases filed against me,” Mr. Sadananda Gowda said.
Swami Nithyananda has filed a writ petition in the High Court of Karnataka seeking Rs. 10 crore damages from the State Government and others.
The Chief Minister claimed that he had taken the decision (to have Swami Nithyananda arrested) after collecting all details about the activities in the ashram.
“I am discharging my duty as the Chief Minister and not against any individual or institution,” he claimed.
Mr. Sadananda Gowda, Minister for Home and Transport R. Ashok and Minister for Housing V. Somanna participated in the “muhurtam” of a film being produced by MLC and actor Jaggesh at Kanteerava Studio.

The CM should provide what details he had on hand when he called for the arrest of Nithyananda. There was no investigation by the police personnel nor was there time for them to do so when the CM made the decision. Thankfully, the judiciary doesn't get caught by flowery speeches!
