Doctors at Vani Vilas Hospital, where the baby born in a Kamalanagar park was admitted to, said his condition was still unstable. The mother died soon after.
Some Gowda, Medical Superintendent, said that the infant was on anti-convulsion medication after he suffered a bout of fits on Sunday. “The boy's brain has been affected because of birth asphyxia, in which he has not received enough oxygen during birth. The baby is under observation in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” he said.
His condition can be fully assessed only after the effects of the medicines wear off, he said.
On Sunday afternoon, Poornima went into labour at a park in Shakti Ganapati Nagar, Kamalanagar, and gave birth. She died on way to the hospital.
“Poornima's husband had left her around a year ago, and she was living with her sister,” said the police.
