Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj on Wednesday held a protest here, demanding preference to Kannadigas for jobs in Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL).
Mr. Nagaraj said like many other Central Government companies, BMRCL too appears to have not given preference to Kannada-speaking people. It is Namma Metro and hence “namma people” should be appointed in the running of the corporation and trains, he said.
He also criticised BMRCL for outsourcing several works, including customer care operations and security, to private agencies.

I support what Vatal has said ,jobs should be given to native ppl.
Dear Editor,
The Namma Metro was an initiative by us Kannadiggas and the rest of the country
people must respect our initiative to lessen the burden on our road transport. I
support this minister that only Kannadiggas be allowed to travel on Namma Metro.
This will lower the burden on Metro trains.
Chockalingam Ramanathan@ to much local feeling,,, there should unity at least with in south india,, today city is developed because of immigration from other states,,, local should be given job preference I agree but Metro was build by labours from mostly Orissa, and other northern Indian states,so how can i say it’s only for Kannadigas, what about lakhs of Tamils, telugu, malayalis?
Yes of course, jobs must be reserved only for Kannadigas. It does not matter that the bulk of the cost of Metro was paid by the Central Government to which all Indians pay taxes. Cost, shmost, who cares. It is not important. What is important is the Metro is our initiative, ignoring the fact that the first Indian Metro was in Delhi. Hey, this Sridharan guy is not Kannadiga. How come he was allowed to advice us on how Kannadigas should build Namma Metro. And these tunnels that they are digging. Should that not be done by Kannadigas alone. It is Namma Metro after all. Fancy hiring foreigners and non-kannadiga Indians to work on that. And those metro coaches being manufactured in Bangalore, whose workers' wages are paid by the Central Government. They should not manufacture them for Metros in Chennai, Hyderabad, etc. Let them make their own by hiring only Tamils (in Chennai), and only Telegus (in Hyd.).
