Arpita cremated a few metres away from junction

February 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

Arpita Janardhan was on Friday afternoon cremated at the Hebbal Electrical Crematorium, just a few metres away from Kempapura junction where she was killed a day before. The mood of the protesters turned sombre when her body was passing the accident site.

A teary eyed Pratima Gowda, her classmate and friend, told The Hindu that she did not make friendly easily, but was a fun girl once she opened up. She was a bright student. It was heart-wrenching sight to see Arpita’s mother pleading with the family to let her look at her daughter's face one last time. Her face was severely deformed as it came under the tanker’s wheels.

Her father, Janardhan, who performed the last rites, was inconsolable. “A skywalk should be immediately built at the junction so that nobody else meets the fate of my daughter,” he said before breaking down.

His elder brother and former MLA G. Chandranna said that he would try to fix the issue at the earliest.
