Armed men robbed gold valuables from a couple who were at their house in Vasanth Vallabha Nagar in the Subramanya- pura police station limits here in the early hours of Sunday.

The gang stabbed Girish, owner of the house, in the neck when he tried to resist and beat up his wife with a club before snatching the valuables, including a gold chain, a gold ring, a pair of gold bangles.

The accused then ransacked the house and took away with Rs. 20,000 in cash, before locking up the door from outside.

A few minutes later, the victims raised an alarm for help.

However, the men managed to escape.

Girish is in hospital, where doctors said that he is out of danger.

The Subramanyapura police, who rushed to the spot, have registered a case of robbery.
