An armed gang of eight men barged into the house of a private school teacher and decamped with gold valuables late on Monday evening after tying up the family members.

The incident occurred at Shabari Nagar in Kothanur police station limits around 8 p.m. The gang entered Anitha’s house and threatened the family members — her children, aged 14 and 15, and nephew, aged 19 — with machetes. The robbers tied them up and stuffed cloth in their mouths. According to Anitha, the robbers decamped with 100 gm of gold valuables and those she was wearing.

Neighbours were alerted after Anitha’s cries for help. Her husband, a techie, was in Mumbai.
