A gang of six armed men hacked a 35-year-old private firm employee to death on the busy K.R. Road, near Banashankari, on Monday.

The deceased, Deepak, a resident of Nagarabhavi, came out of his office to go home when armed assailants who came in an autorickshaw intercepted him and attacked him, killing him on the spot. Before passersby could react, they sped away.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) H.S. Revanna said the incident occurred at around 6 p.m.

Deepak was working with Chaitra Irrigation and Developer, a private firm and was married six months ago.

Police said Deepak did not have any criminal background and the police suspect that family dispute could be the reason behind the murder. The Banashankari police have registered a case and are investigating.
