KPSC to conduct interviews afresh for successful candidates

The State government has ordered re-evaluation of all the answer scripts of the gazetted probationers examination 2011 conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission.

Briefing presspersons after a marathon meeting of the State Cabinet here on Friday, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra said that the successful candidates in the written examinations would be put through an interview afresh and it will be in accordance with a recent report made over to the State government by the former Chairperson of the Union Public Service Commission P.C. Hota. The results announced earlier have been declared null and void.


The Cabinet also accorded its approval to the recommendations contained in the report, including the reforms to the selection process of the KPSC.

The State government had appointed a three-member committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Hota following a string of complaints on irregularities in the recruitment to the posts of 362 Gazetted Probationers — Assistant Commissioners, Tahsildars and Deputy Superintendents of Police.

At a meeting of the State Cabinet held sometime ago, it was decided to order an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department of the State Police.
