The third tunnel boring machine (TBM) deployed by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., to burrow tunnel from Cubbon Park Station to BRV Parade Grounds, accomplished the breakthrough on Tuesday.

A release from BMRCL said that an earth-pressure balance TBM was deployed from Cubbon Park underground metro station in June. The TBM burrowed 152 metres of the first of twin tunnels before surfacing at the East Ramp near BRV Grounds

The machine will now be reassembled and remarshalled to commence burrowing from East Ramp towards Cubbon Park station for the second tunnel, the release added.
