A.N. Jayaram, former Additional Solicitor-General of India and former Advocate-General of Karnataka, passed away here on Friday. He was 84. He is survived by his wife, Vinoo, and daughter, Malavika, both lawyers.

Mr. Jayaram, who hailed from Amurtur village in Kunigal taluk, was the Advocate-General of Karnataka between October 1999 and June 2004 when S.M. Krishna was the Chief Minister. An alumnus of the Hague Academy of International Law, Netherlands, he was designated as Senior Advocate by the High Court of Karnataka in 1986 and had practised a lawyer over 50 years.
