In an exemplary show of honesty, autorickshaw driver Madhukumar has returned a brand new laptop which was left behind in his autorickshaw by an engineering student soon after he purchased it.

On Wednesday, Zairemchhunga of Mizoram, studying in PES Engineering College, Mandya, came to Bengaluru and purchased a new laptop for Rs. 51,000 at a shop on S.P. Road near the city market. From there, he hired an autorickshaw to Brigade Road. When he alighted, he forgot to take the bag with the laptop and other personal things.

The youth approached the traffic police who directed him to visit the Traffic Management Centre to verify the camera footage of Brigade Road.

Meanwhile Madhukumar, 37, discovered the bag on the passenger seat and searched the items for a contact number. To his luck, Zairemchhunga's mobile number was in the receipt for the purchase. He called him up and informed him the bag was safe with him. The student was at the TMC at that time.

The two met at the TMC, the laptop and the bag were returned.

Traffic police officials felicitated Madhukumar for his honesty and gesture and promised a reward.
