The Halasuru traffic police arrested a 35-year-old ambulance driver for drunk driving on Thursday.

Around 11.30 a.m., a traffic policeman on duty at Devanja Junction saw an ambulance jump a signal. As the siren was off, the policeman flagged the vehicle down. He got suspicious when he noticed the driver behaving in a peculiar manner and trying to avoid speaking. When subjected to an alcometer test, the driver was found to have consumed alcohol beyond the permissible limits

The driver, Kantharaju, informed the police that he worked for a private ambulance service and was on his way from Yeshwanthpur to Shantinagar to pick up a patient.

The police booked him and seized the vehicle.
