Members of the Ambedkar Kranti Sene here on Saturday staged a protest outside the HDFC bank on Kasturba Road in the city, demanding action against the staff who allegedly harassed family members of a hotel employee.

Kranti Raju, sene president, charged bank manager Ravi Kumar and others for harassing family members of employee of a hotel employee Bharat Singh last week. The recovery agents sent by Mr. Kumar allegedly barged into Mr. Singh’s house on September 11 and misbehaved with his wife and mother, demanding that they repay dues.

Bharat had availed a loan of Rs. 30 lakh from the bank. He had repaid most of it and owed the bank Rs. 1.4 lakh, said Mr. Raju. However the bank staff used to come to his house and harass him for repayment.

The family approached the jurisdictional Girinagar police, who they say were initially reluctant to receive the complaint. With the intervention of a senior police officer, the local police filed a complaint, but no action has been initiated so far, Mr. Raju alleged.

The protesters shouted slogans against the staff and later submitted a memorandum to the jurisdictional police.
