All students who have joined undergraduate or postgraduate courses in Bangalore University or affiliated colleges by submitting National Institute for Open Schooling (NIOS) certificates will have to once again submit their documents for verification.

Addressing mediapersons on Thursday, K.N. Ninge Gowda, Registrar (Administration) said several students had submitted fake NIOS certificates to get admission into colleges affiliated to the varsity. “We will be sending a circular to all colleges to verify the authenticty of all marks cards,” he said.

He said that they stumbled upon this scam at the Akash International Business Management College, which was not affiliated to the university. The police arrested the management after which the university decided to transfer the students to three nearby colleges.
