Alert Hoysala patrolling staff averted an ATM theft and arrested a 35-year-old welder who was trying to break open the unguarded kiosk at Kottigepalya in Kamakshipalya police station limits in the early hours of Tuesday.

Around 3 a.m., when assistant sub-inspector of police Rajanna and police constable Bellappa were on night rounds, they noticed a man trying to remove the panel of the ATM machine.

The policemen rushed into the kiosk and pinned down Harish Ram, who reportedly confessed that he was trying to steal money. A case has been registered against him.
