AKKA fest to promote Kannada parallel cinema

August 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:33 am IST - BENGALURU:

Kannada parallel cinema is likely to get a major fillip, with the Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) hosting a film festival for the first time to promote such movies, at the 9th AKKA World Kannada Conference 2016 from September 2 to 4 at Atlantic City Convention Centre, New Jersey.

AKKA president Raj Patil announced this here on Sunday. The festival will showcase around 12 full-length original movies, of which majority will be in the ‘Hosa Chiguru’ category. A few Kannada classics will also be screened. Films in the ‘Hosa Chiguru’ section should have been completed after 2014 and those in the ‘Hele Beru’ section before December 2013.

Entries can be send to filmfestival2016@akkaonline.com before August 10, along with a synopsis of film and details about its critical acclaim and the cast.
