After the Bike Ambulance, it is the turn of Air Ambulance in the State, mainly Bengaluru, to reach faster medical aid to the patients.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare, U.T. Khader on Sunday said three companies have shown interest to launch and operate the air ambulance services.
Speaking to reporters here, the Minister said discussions were in progress with the companies on launching the services in places like Bengaluru where road traffic congestion was high.
A lot of logistical support was necessary to operate an air ambulance (mostly in a helicopter equipped with medical facilities, including life support system) to rush patients for life-saving treatment in hospitals.
“No decision had been taken so far on the time of launching the initiative. Moreover, the government cannot run such a service on its own. Therefore, it is in talks with the companies who have come forward to operate the services,” the minister said.
Mr. Khader said the bike ambulances which was recently launched in Bengaluru to rush medical help to the people in need traversing through heavy traffic, will soon be provided to key tier-II cities such as Mysuru.
