Agni VI, the new multi-target missile under development, will serve as a ‘force multiplier’, Defence Research and Development Organisation chief V.K. Saraswat said on Friday.
The Hindu had first reported the plan for the truck-launched Agni VI on February 4, adding it would be in the 65–70-tonne class and heavier than Agni V, which was first tested in April 2012.
Its strike range cannot be given; the DRDO has completed design work and is into realising its hardware, Dr. Saraswat said at the ongoing Aero India 2013. Agni V is said to have a range of 5,000 km.
The plane-launched anti-radiation missile is another ambitious project along with the recently demonstrated underwater missile BO5/ K-15, he said.
