Vehicular movement on the busy Nelamangala flyover passing through National Highway 4 was disrupted for over an hour early Tuesday morning after angry residents stopped 10 Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses for skipping the bypass road and taking the flyover to avoid traffic congestion. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in the jam.

The buses are, according to their original route, supposed to stop on the bypass road to pick up passengers going towards Tumakuru, Hubballi and Dharward. But they have been deviating from the route, leaving many stranded.

Despite residents complaining to KSRTC officials, who in turn issued strict directions to the bus staff, the drivers have continued to take the flyover to avoid the traffic, residents claimed.

The Nelamangala police rushed to the spot and managed to persuade protesters to allow traffic to pass and find an amicable solution to the issue.
