Advocate, assistant detained

July 31, 2013 11:50 pm | Updated 11:50 pm IST - Bangalore:

The High Grounds police have detained an advocate and his assistant for allegedly threatening and blackmailing the son of a high court judge, over a property dispute.

According to the police, Phaniraj Kashyap, son of the judge, had purchased two acres of land near Devanahalli in 2005. Later, it was acquired by Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). Then the original owner of the land filed a petition before the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue)’s court to claim compensation, and the order came in favour of Mr. Phaniraj.

Later, the original owner appealed before the Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) court seeking stay on the AC court order, but in vain.

On Monday, the advocate and his assistant came to Mr. Phaniraj’s office and threatened to file a writ petition alleging that Mr. Phaniraj’s father influenced the court.
