A prominent actor and cricketer died under mysterious circumstances in a private hospital on Tuesday. Dhruva Sharma, a speech and hearing impaired actor as well as a star player of the Karnataka Bulldozers cricket team, was admitted to the hospital with multiple organ failure on Saturday. He succumbed early on Tuesday morning.
Family members of the popular actor suspect that Dhruva was under huge financial stress and had attempted to end his life.
A case has been registered by the Rajanakunte police based on a complaint filed by the family, a police officer said.
Dhruva is the son of businessman-actor Suresh Sharma. He quit college as he found it tough to understand his lecturers. However, he did not let his impediment come in the way of his acting career as he would lip-sync on screen in sync with his co-stars. His first film was Snehanjali.
He had earned accolades for his captaincy of the Indian deaf-mute cricket team that won the World Cup some years ago. As part of the Sandalwood team in the Celebrity Cricket League, Sharma trained under Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan.
