Two software engineers are among three people killed in separate accidents in the city while two others sustained grievous injuries.

Dayananda (32), working for HCL in Electronics City, died and his colleague Shobhana (21) was severely injured when their two-wheeler slammed into a parked goods carrier on the Electronics City flyover on Friday night. The Madiwala police said Dayananda, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was dropping his colleague off at her paying guest accommodation. He failed to notice the parked vehicle. Its driver had left it there looking for fuel. The two were rushed to Sagar Apollo Hospital, where Dayanand was pronounced dead. Shobhana is in a critical condition. The Madivala traffic police arrested the driver.

Another software engineer also died in a collision with a similar goods carrier, this time head on, on the service road off Old Madras Road in K.R. Puram early on Saturday.

Accenture employee Ajay Reddy (32) and his friend Ashok (25), a granite businessman, were on their way to a friend’s home after work.

K.R. Puram traffic police said Ajay died of head injuries on the spot while Ashok is in a hospital in Ramamurthynagar.

The third death was that of an unidentified pedestrian aged around 45, who was knocked down by a speeding BMTC bus at the Kengeri check-post around 9.30 p.m. on Friday when he was crossing the road. He died of head injuries.
