Barely four days after six persons were sentenced to life imprisonment for gang-raping a law student on the Bangalore University campus in October last year, the Jnanabharathi police have arrested the absconding eighth accused person.

The arrest of Raja alias Muthu Raja took place on Tuesday.

The police, which learnt about the possibility of Raja returning to his village in Ramanagaram district for the festival season, tracked him down. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
