On Sunday, a ‘dream tree’ was in full bloom at the Rangoli Art Centre on M.G. Road Boulevard. It had hundreds of paper tags tied to it, each with a dream written on it.
It was part of ‘Plant your dream’, a two-day interactive art installation project designed by artists Helena von Schultz and Cristina Maiorescu from Finland and Romania respectively.
“People forget what they want to do. We have to be gentle to ourselves and follow our dreams,” Ms. Maiorescu said.
The tags echoed many a dreams of a peaceful world, safety for children, of the desire to become filmmakers, Kathak dancers, doctors, police and airforce officers, of being self-employed, and of travelling around the world. While some people dreamt of being brave enough to play a tin whistle in a pub in Paris, own an organic farm in Vermont, and start a mobile school, some wanted to be the best gift their parents ever got.
Skanda, a grade one student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, wrote that his dream was to gift a plant to everyone.
Ms. Schultz said, “We never dreamt the response would be this overwhelming.” U.A. Vasantha Rao, General Manager (Finance), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., said the ‘dream tags’ would be curated as they provide a glimpse into people’s aspirations.
