Impact of globalisation, contemporaneous feminist perceptions, and concern for traditional culture were among the subjects of expression that the young and old artists portrayed in their paintings at the camps organised by the Karnataka Lalithakala Academy at various places in the State during 2009-10.
Art lovers can have a glimpse of these paintings at Venkatappa Art Gallery on Kasturba Road till June 26 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The exhibition of paintings of 50 artists, who participated in the camps held in Mysore, Dharwad and Shivagange in Kolar district by the academy in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture, was inaugurated on Tuesday.
Suchitra Lingadalli's painting of mixed media manifestation representing contemporaneous feminist perception influenced by Bollywood, impact of globalisation by R.V. Devarushi, Umesh L. Rathod, and Shivananda Basavanthappa, and a painting of Buddha by B.P. Karthik were some of the attractions.
Minister for Minor Irrigation Govind M. Karjol inaugurated the exhibition, and Mallepuram G. Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka Sanskrit University, released a catalogue containing the photographs of paintings by the artists, who attended the camps.
