Bengalurians were exposed to a new experience at the outdoor amphitheatre in Freedom Park on Saturday evening, as The Adventures of Prince Achmed — the first animated silhouette feature film — was screened along with live music.

It was a unique experience as Andy Giorbino (electric guitar) and Krischa Weber (cello) played the music for the animated film along with narration by noted singer M.D. Pallavi. This experiment was part of the ongoing 7th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival.

This 61-minute German film, produced between 1923 and 1926, was restored in a 35mm version in Blu Ray format. This silhouette film is based on an episode from Arabian Nights with a cast of moving shadows.
