As part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Officers' Training Academy (OTA) Chennai, a motorcycle expedition covering approximately 2,200 kilometres in 12 days arrived in Bangalore on Friday.
Following the arrival, the expedition was flagged off from Bangalore to Chennai by Lieutenant General Kamal Mohey, Commandant ASC Centre and College, at an impressive ceremony held at the Corps of Military Police Centre and School in Bangalore on Friday.
According to an official release, the expedition arrived from Mysore after travelling through Pondicherry, Tiruchirapalli, Rameshwaram, Tiruvananthapuram, Cochin, Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala and Mysore.
The 12 riders
The team of 12 riders is headed by Captain Mandar Pathak (Team Captain), lady officer Captain Vinodita Rathore (Navigator), eight gentlemen cadets and two lady cadets. The aim of the expedition is to create awareness among the public about the Indian Army and also to motivate the eligible youth to join the Indian Army. Besides, the motorcycle expedition also aims at spreading the message about the golden jubilee celebrations of the Officers' Training Academy, Chennai, which will complete 50 years of its Raising Day on January 15, 2013.
To mark the achievements of the academy and its alumni in the last five decades, a grand golden jubilee celebrations has been planned.
