A senior BMTC official said, “The State is opposed to the Road Transport and Safety Bill, 2015 and is taking it up with the Centre through official channels. State-run corporations are already under losses.” Tourist taxi operators had already voiced their opposition to the strike call on Tuesday and said that they would ply. Truck owners associations had said that they supported the demand for roll back of the bill, but did not want to stay off the roads.
