Exhibition of Chougale’s artworks will begin today at CKP

D.S. Chougale, short story writer and playwright, is also an artist.

In addition to being part of group exhibitions and art camps, he has also conducted solo shows in various parts of Karnataka.

‘My village, my people’, an exhibition of his works depicting rural culture, will be held at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat (CKP) from May 20 to 26.

Self-taught In fact, Mr. Chougale is a self-taught artist. His works are mostly based on native culture.

“My intention is to record how native culture equates itself with the new challenges thrown up by globalisation. It is an honest attempt to return to figurative rhythm,” he says.

He has held solo exhibitions in Belgaum, Dharwad and Bangalore as well as group exhibitions in Chennai and Hyderabad.

As a versatile writer, he has 28 published works to his credit and has bagged various awards.

The CKP will also hold ‘Whisper of the palette’, an exhibition of paintings and photographs by Kuppanna Kandigal and Sriharsha Kandigal, from May 21 to 25.

Upalokayukta S.B. Majage will inaugurate the exhibition at 5.45 p.m. at the CKP on Wednesday.
