Seven motorcycles and a car parked in an apartment complex were set on fire by miscreants in Rajarajeshwarinagar here early on Monday.
The security guard of Nammane, the apartment complex on 2nd Cross of 9th Main in Ideal Homes in Rajarajeshwarinagar, was sleeping in his room on the terrace of the multi-storeyed building when the vehicles went up in flames just before dawn. Hence, the vandalism went unnoticed.
Panic gripped the locality for a while when residents discovered the totally charred two-wheelers and the partially burnt car.
The incident comes a day after some vehicles were set on fire by miscreants at Murphy Town in the Ulsoor police station limits.
Film director Ravikumar, who lives in Ideal Homes, told The Hindu his two-wheeler was also a casualty. Three software engineers also lost their vehicles.
“Police patrolling in this area is poor,” said one of the software engineers.
Rajarajeshwarinagar police suspect the vandals to be youngsters with criminal backgrounds who had an axe to grind with the victims. It could also have been a mindless act of bravado to create fear in the neighbourhood, an officer said, adding that a few men are being questioned.
At least three such incidents have been reported at different parts of Bangalore over the last few weeks and no one has been arrested so far.
