An 18-year-old chat vendor was hacked to death by a group of men in Vijayanagar on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as H.R. Mahendra. According to the police, Mahendra had a fight with his friend-turned-foe Girinayaka over a girl in their area whom both liked.
On Wednesday, the duo had a fight. However, the neighbours pacified them. Later in the evening, Girinayaka and his associates attacked Mahendra who was returning home from work with his friend on a bike.
Police personnel shifted Mahendra to a near-by hospital where he succumbed on Thursday morning.
The police have detained a few suspects in connection with the case.
