Two persons died in separate accidents here on Monday morning.

A 33-year-old man died and two others were injured after their car crashed into a railway-level crossing pole in High Grounds. Srinivas, a resident of Srirampura and an employee of a jewellery shop on Dickenson Road, was killed, while Anand (24), and Virupaksha (32), were injured. Around 1.30 a.m., Srinivas was driving towards Shivajinagar where he had to drop his friends. He was apparently over-speeding, and lost control. He died on the way to the hospital, the High Grounds traffic police said.

In another incident, a pedestrian died after a BMTC bus hit him on Old Madras Road.

According to the police, Timmappa (81), a resident of K.R. Puram, was taking a walk at 6.15 a.m. when a BMTC bus plying between Hoskote and K.R. Market ran him over. The police arrested the driver Krishnappa who since has been released on bail. “The victim’s son is a hotel owner in K.R. Puram,” said a police officer attached to K.R. Puram traffic investigation wing.

Further investigation is on.
