BENGALURU: The Department of Collegiate Education will soon insist that all lecturers of government and aided degree colleges will have to disclose their monthly and annual salary on the college website and the notice board.

K.P. Ragotham, additional director of the department, said that lecturers are mandated to declare this information as per the Right to Information Act.

“The salary of lecturers varies based on increments and promotions. We will ask principals to ensure that they make this information public,” an official said.

This norm, however, will not be applicable to guest lecturers.

The move has angered faculty members as they feel that the department is imposing too many restrictions. Recently, the department had sought opinions from students about the possibility of a dress code for the faculty.
