The Karnataka Tourism Department and JSW Bengaluru Football Club Private Ltd (BFC) on Thursday entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for promoting Bengaluru as a footballing and tourist destination.

After signing an agreement, Minister of State for Tourism Priyank Kharge said the department envisaged that football could be a key driver for developing Bengaluru as a famous sports tourism destination on the same lines as Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester, and Munich, which are home to several football clubs.

Mr. Kharge said the MoU has been signed for six-month on a pilot basis, and would be extended later.

BFC has been taking part in the international league as well as the Asian Football Club championship. Parth Jindal, CEO, BFC, said “We are exited about this association between BFC and Tourism Department. We take great pride in the fact that we represent Karnataka and Bengaluru at the national and international levels. We have always been brand ambassador for the State and the city.”

Sunil Chhetri, captain of BFC and the Indian national team, spoke and appreciated the tie-up.
