Bengaluru: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is all set to hold the first of its zonal level public consultation meetings over the Revised Master Plan 2031 on Thursday afternoon.

BDA has already prepared a vision document for the city, which will guide the Master Plan process, but has not yet made it public. So far, it has only published a 35-page document on the projected scenarios for the city for 2031.

Multiple civic groups have indicated that they will participate in the meetings, and will register their protests.

Thursday's meet is scheduled at 3 p.m. at Kalyani Kala Mandir, Bannerghatta Road. It will cover Bommanahalli zone along with gram panchayats of Bannerghatta, Doddathoguru, Hebbugodi, Huskur, Kaggalipura, Kammasandra and surrounding areas. This will be followed by another meet at Dr Rajkumar Kalamandira for West Zone on Friday, which is also expected to see protests.

D.S. Rajashekhar, president, Citizen Action Forum, said that they would oppose the public consultation meet on two counts – that there was insufficient notice and there is no significant information in the public domain to comment upon. “The BDA has put up a set of projected scenarios for 2031 on its website, which is not democratic enough. Data should have been published in all wards. Also, the document lacks any clarity. How can BDA decide on the vision for the city much before the public meet?”

Sridhar Pabbisetty, CEO, Namma Bengaluru Foundation, said that while they would participate in the meeting, they would register their protest at the shoddy way in which BDA is carrying out public consultations. “We are yet to understand to why the BDA is holding these public consultations. The vision document is yet to be made public. Also,we have been given very short notice for the meeting,” he said.
