A farmer who attempted suicide by consuming poison on Saturday, died in a hospital in Hassan on Sunday.
The police identified the deceased as Raje Gowda (55), of Banakuppe in Holenarasipur taluk. He had borrowed more than ₹8 lakh in loans from banks and private persons to invest in his farmland, besides purchasing a tractor.
It is said that the bank had recently seized his tractor as he had failed to pay the instalments. Disturbed by this development, he attempted suicide. He was admitted to a hospital in Hassan, where he died.
The Holenarasipur police have registered a case.
