The driver of an app-based taxi aggregator was assaulted on Sunday night while he was returning after dropping customers at Shanti Nagar bus terminus. Police suspect that the attack was carried out by other drivers who are protesting against aggregators. However, cab drivers’ associations have denied the allegations and said the victim, Mukund (28), was targetted by robbers.

“Around 9.30 p.m., five people stopped the Mukund and attacked him. The driver says they did not try to rob him,” said a police officer.“He was not able to identify them. He sustained minor injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital.”

The police are not ruling out some personal motive.

The Wilson Garden police have registered a case.
