The Old Airport Road traffic police on Wednesday arrested a BMTC driver and conductor for allegedly parking the bus in the middle of the busy Marathahalli Road, causing traffic disruption. The duo were apparently taking a tea break.
Finding the bus unattended, the police went and looked for the driver and conductor and found them relaxing at a roadside hotel, drinking tea.
When the traffic police asked them to move the bus, the driver ignored them, prompting the police to seize the bus.
The police also detained driver Neeladhar and booked him under section 283 of the IPC (Danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) and seized his driving license.
However, this is not the the first time the police are acting against erring bus drivers. On Tuesday, the police had seized two more private buses and booked the drivers for parking on the road.
“The drivers have been slapped with fines. Only after they pay, will the vehicles be released,” said Mohammed M.A., Inspector, Old Airport traffic station said, adding that the seized DLs have been sent to the RTOs concerned with a recommendation to suspend them.
